Hi, I’m a BMW fan and have a daily 330d touring. I’ve been a fan of the z3 since they first came out and in June, after looking at loads of classifieds, I decided to get the train from
Manchester down to near Heathrow and buy what suited me best. Mk1 1998 Z3 2.8. I cannot say how smitten I am with it, and my touring has hardly been used since!!
its going away in a month or so for a full paint job and I’ve just booked it in for a new roof in March. The paint is ok, just a bit of bubbling here and there and a few aged related dents. The roof too is ok, and doesn’t leak, but I want it looking it’s best for next spring. I originally thought I may flip it after Summer, but I’m keeping this now. Looking forward to many years of fun with it.

Welcome to the Forum, all you will ever want to know about Z's can be found on here and any questions answered quickly by the experts on here. Tip, put your location and car model details in your user details or in a signature so it appears in all of your posts, its handy to know when answering questions you post and if a fellow member is near you who can offer assistance.
Best arm yourself with code reading scanner capability you will need to scan the car sooner or later so best be prepared to avoid paying someone else to do it. Its worth noting however since yours is a 1998 car it may have OBD1 which limits the choice of scanner you can use.
If its OBD2 then Creator 310+ works for me as well as laptop based diagnostics, BMW INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4. All available on ebay for little outlay.
