Hello all

I'm from Brisbane Australia and own a 1998 BMW Z3 2.8, red in colour with really low 55 000 kms on the clock.

I love everything about this car !

Especially the power, exhaust note and the luxuries that it has. I also love motorcycles, but feel safer in my roadster and can still have the "wind in your hair" while zipping around bends at fast speeds and great handling.

My current issue is a burning smell coming from the a/c blower, sort of intermittently.

So currently I'm driving without a/c and blower in off position and summer is coming. Australian summers are nice and hot !

Once that is sorted, I'll be able to enjoy summer driving in the middle of the day when the sun is too hot too have the top down. (One could get fried in the full midday sun)

Obviously the top comes down in the early mornings and later afternoons ! :-)

Anybody else had the burning smell from the blower ? Love to hear how you got it sorted !

Best Regards

Nathan

Hi Nathan, welcome from up here in what is currently the wet as a s*** north.. No chance of a day with my top down.. Never had an issue with my AC so cant help, sorry mate...

Welcome from Argyll Scotland .I lived in Fremantle and Murray Bridge for a while, for work but couldn't take the zed with me.

Hi and welcome to the forum :welcome:

I don’t have A/C in either of my Zeds but I believe it uses the same heater / blower system. You might want to check the fan resistor unit as these can fail over time.
These are just really basic coils of wire that alter the fan speed and can get hot
on some cars they are under the scuttle, and on others they are located just above the fan on the passenger side footwell ( RHD)
( so you have to remove the glove box)

EDIT
A/C cars it’s located under the Scuttle. so you could run the a/c and see if you can detect any burning smell around the scuttle area ??

non A/C cars it’s in the footwell
