Hi from Mansfield
I was told by the previous owner it was 8v however, DVLA suggests 140bhp.Welcome to the forum, If its the 1.9 M44 16V its a great engine
My expansion tank is integral to the radiator (1997 M44).'ve ordered a new expansion tank (they're only £15 anyway) just in case.
The foam just pulls out for access to the outer mounting brackets.I was told by the previous owner it was 8v however, DVLA suggests 140bhp.
Looking here it appears to be https://zroadster.org/threads/m43-v-m44.5759/ M44 16V
When I saw the engine it looked twin cam (from the cam cover, no idea if they are). Anyway it is the 16v
Thankyou for the welcome folks. I'm also looking to get a wind breaker (maybe hoops) but mine looks different. When I remove the blanking plates on the seat belt posts it looks like there is polystyrene in the hole.
I also noticed it has a coolant leak local to the bottom hose. I've ordered a new expansion tank (they're only £15 anyway) just in case.
Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey...........FrankieHi folks,
Malc from Manchester. Just bought a 1998 Roadster with the ickle 1.9 4-pot.
Being a little car mad I have been on many forums of many marques. Not many marques I've not owned now.
I'm getting the car tomorrow so as of yet I don't really know too much about it other than what I've seen.
Hopefully spending some time here. Just out of interest though, my car does not have a Tonneau cover and they look like they just clip on. Is there somewhere to store it as its appears to be a formed item and not soft material?
Is it? I wonder. Well I will find out. On holiday from Monday for a few weeks and back the end of November. I shall look again then.My expansion tank is integral to the radiator (1997 M44).![]()
Excellent, I will order a windbreaker and tonneau cover in December I think. I'll remove that foam first just in caseThe foam just pulls out for access to the outer mounting brackets.
If it has the twin cam cover, good news its the M44
If i remember right you do need to take the plastic housing off as it is moulded around the top of the Metal section so would leave till you get the deflector as you would need to do it again (there are two types of deflector one doesnt use the hoop holes. I originally had the wind deflector then swapped for non factory hoops and a perspex deflector before finally getting the real Mc coy off Synclaire, there are others on here also sell hoops etc . Full factory hoops and all the required replacement parts. Stuck with the perspex deflector although some prefer the original mesh type. Wish i had splashed out and got the proper set up first go, unless you don't like hoops?Excellent, I will order a windbreaker and tonneau cover in December I think. I'm still dithering. Got an airbag light and coolant leak. I think I know what both problems are but I will get those fixed first. If i remember right you do need to take the plastic housing off as it is moulded around the top of the Metal section so would leave till you get the deflector as you would need to do it again (there are two types of deflector one doesnt use the hoop holes. Hi and welcome. Have a look here re heater bulbs. The bulb and holder are single unit and only available from BMW.Cheers, I'm sure I will.
I am going to fill a V62 form in for the V5.
Also noticed the heater backlights look a little dark and tired. Is there any guides on here on removing the centre console facia? I'll take a look myself here.
