Wee issue...

In garage last week with a knocking from front and terrible tramlining, diagnosis...2 rear lower bushes worn and 2 ball joints goosed. So replacing both front wishbones, i found a company called ATP on eBay who were selling 2 wishbones, 2 lower rear bushes, 2 track rod ends and 2 drop links as a package.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371434594035?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Parts just arrived today but the 2 wishbones are clearly of a different brand/make (same dimensions though). One is 1kg heavier than the other and they both have different rubber boots shapes and clips etc. Should i be concerned by this or just go ahead and fit? Also the lower bushes are also 2 different brands.

Offside...

How would i go about that Nod?

Actually re-weighed them and there is a 2kg difference not 1kg.

Seems hell of a cheap for all those parts and is false economy if they don't last long.

Yes, i just wanted a cheap, quick short term fix before the summer's gone. :)

Rest of the parts are fine and are made by http://atec-germany.eu/ (as is 1 of the wishbones! lol)

Barry I've just replaced both all the components you have in the kit. I bought Meyle parts and paid a lot more. I would go ahead fit everything, have the wheel alignment done and then enjoy the summer. When you are changing the track rods you don't need the BMW tool quoted in the manual. A decent large adjustable spanner will do. I would recommend changing the the anti roll bar bushes for powerflex items while you have everything apart.Mine were very baggy.

Cheers,

Jonno

I personally would have expected them to be matching components in their pairs if sold as a "kit". I would want matching rubber components on each side. Have you tried contacting them yet?

The weight of the arms is not too much of an issue but I would certainly want the rear bushes to be from the same manufacturer.

Tony.

Agreed gaz. That's my concern. Potentially differing manufacturing tolerances and standards etc. Although the dimensions are the same the Nearside wishbone weighs 5kg and the Offside only weighs 3kg!

I have contacted them and begun a refund request based on parts 'not as described or as in pictures'. Asked them to send parts from same manufacturer. Keep receiving a generic 'we'll get back to you etc 'email.

The ball joints on one wishbone move easily and are solid on the other. I don't think I'll be installing them tbh.

brakes and suspension, everything in pairs unless it is exactly like for like. Stuff that degrades, bushes shocks, pads etc in pairs.

if over time, every pair of items are odd, you could end up building in all sorts of balance, alignment or wear issues.

I'd only fit matching pairs, I'm sure others can and will argue otherwise.

Changed my wishbones, drop links and anti roll bar bushes just before last MOT in December. I'd only fit matching parts personally.

All 8 parts from ATP Germany have been returned (prob wait 2 weeks for refund!) Not happy putting different branded and weighted wishbones on, thanks all for feedback, opinions and experiences. New parts ordered from UK supplier.

I'd avoid ATP on ebay if anyone's looking, should have checked their feedback before i ordered. Useless bunch. :banghead: Communications sh*** as well.

I have ordered multiple times from ATP already in the past....for different cars and different type of pieces.
Never had this type of issue.
Have always been serviced correctly.

Regards, koen
