And the thugs/drug dealers/burglars/criminals can still steal a car travel like idiots down no entries, over pavements past schools, chased by the police failing to stop or think about anyone's safety in a bid to get away, nearly killing pedestrians other road users, wreck someone's car, crash into countless others, be found high on drugs with thousands of pounds in cash on them, have outstanding warrants against them, unemployed and don't want to work, and the genuine motorist is still punished more for going 6mph over the speed limit in a 50mph zone, yep that's justice.

And get a slap on the wrist and maybe a 10 hour community service order.

his car for work your Honour get a flipping chauffeur can pay a stiffer fine

Question Red line why do you have a z4 3.0L car ?;)
Never said I don't break the limit or don't use all 265bhp. :D
I've had quick cars for 30 years and used them for well over 1m miles.
Don't do stupid things and you won't get caught and have fun when and where it's safe to do so.

We have had the technology for years to stop speeding, easy fix all cars fitted with a gps that monitors your position and speed and limiter kicks in, but the revenue the government would lose is unthinkable, no more cars over 1000cc what would be the point, how many car manufactures would go out of business, I don't care what you all say, this is just a money making scheme by the goverment, if they were really interested in saving lives they would do something about it as the tech is out there to do it, same as smoking, how much revenue lost if they made it illegal, they use the saving life's excuse to much, they are not interested in the bigger picture mobiles? How long before you will get fined for tuning a radio/ inserting a cd/talking to the passengers pedestrians punished for wearing a Walkman or eating a sandwich or drinking a cup of coffe when intending to cross the road, life is full of distractions in and out the car, and the answer is not to raise fines in the name of safety it a big con same as revenue on petrol, of course your main reason is to get people to get smaller cars, rubbish again an excuse to rip us off

If you want to make people stop speeding then you increase the points they get on their licence.
The Increase in fines is just to make money, it does nothing to deter speeding

Fines were increased from £60 to £100, yet:
The number of speeding offences has increased 44 per cent in the last five years.

Quite clear that it doesn't work.

In fact, it is just a revenue generator using 'deterrent' as an excuse, it is the chance to get more money from the 44 percent increase in offences that they will still accept.

Two speeding offences at 6 points each.... and your banned, would make you slow down after the first one

what do you think is behind this? go figure...

Well that's me b******* then! 2500 miles a week I do and it is almost impossible to be constantly within the limits to within 1mph! Makes my p*** boil! You want to try keeping a fully frieghted truck at 44t on a slight slope in a 30mph zone, Bloody difficult I'll tell you but you can bet your last breath on it that they'll be a Copper/mobile unit sat in just the right place to throw the fine straight back at you! I'm an "average wage earner" so the fine fits the wages. What a load of sh*** that is! It's retrospect, you earn £500 a week, £125 of that in a fine is going to hurt, you earn £3000 a week, a £1000 fine is neither here or there. Yet again let's hit the lower earners! What a load of b*******s!
Rant over! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

I live in a quiet area which has a large problem with speeding motorists, they use our roads as cut throughs in the morning rush hour.

One road in particular which is a 30 limit, and I know of two fatals, has had chicanes fitted. It's made it more dangerous, the speeders still speed, and they're now speeding on the wrong side of the road coming at you trying to beat you round the chicane.

Now what really boils my weewee is that you never see the camera vans parked up on this road, they are sitting on dual carriage way flyovers where they can happily pick off a hundred speeders per day.

And the powers that be claim it's not for revenue/targets???

I've sat by this road and watched the speeders, and to my surprise it was mostly young ladies.
