Hi all
Been a member a few weeks and had my 2.8 about 2 months, bought it for something to tinker with and have some fun over spring and summer
Been absorbing all the info available here and you all seem a knowledgeable bunch so look forward to picking your brains on all the issues as I come across them
First question I notice my car has a Matt black windscreen surround and some have body colour was this standard or an option when new?

The famous Locks garage ice cream, worth a day out on its own
Looks like a Matt black wrap/sticker , peeling off in one corner, if it’s not standard and there is body colour underneath I’d be tempted to take it off

Welcome. Never seen other than colour coded or chrome so suspect it's been wrapped or painted. Becareful it may have been done to hide something.

Welcome on the forum.

The black windscreen surround was standard on cars of a certain build date but I have read on here and other forums that it can be removed, as it is a sort of "tape", but having never done this myself it would be wise to wait for some input from someone who has.

Removing vynil is easy enough using a heat gun, just dont get it too hot or it stretches too much.

Tony.

ps. Welcome Paul from near Lincoln.

Hi, welcome from Mansfield.

The window surround will be body colour under the vinyl.

Yep be careful some unscrupulous owner my have wrapped it .. To cover up bad paint underneath I would leave it there if it looks ok

If it's got anything very bad underneath you will be able to see it. The prep for a wrap is easily as good as for a respray.

Tony.
