Hi all I recently bought a z3 as a restoration project so wasn't too bothered that it had a bent mot. Initial checks on the 12 month ticket indicated that it should have failed on the following items
1. Broken rear spring
2. Massive oil leak
3. Brake pads and discs excessive wear
4. Brake pad wear warning light on dash
5. 3 inch hole in exhaust pipe
6. N/s/f strut mount excessive wear
7. Rear beam bushes totalled
I paid £750 for the car and I'm enjoying the driving experience and the challenge of saving this one from the scrap yard. It's a 1.9 m44 twin cam

I bypassed the circuit so I don't have the light on. Back in the day we didnt have such things on the old cortina or capri
Only a mechanical brake pad wear warning device is a fail an electronic one is only an advisory at best.

Believe it or not even the oil leak has a limit.
If it leaks a 75mm diameter puddle in 5 mins it's deemed excessive but I've got to tell you I would have deemed it excessive at a lot less than that.
Stephen.

The oil leak was the o ring and gasket under the filter which when changed totally cured the problem. On start up it produced a considerable slick but on the plus side that oil worked its way along the underside of the car helping to keep the rust at bay
