I am new to Zroadster. I came across it today while searching for information on a couple of DYI fixes for my '98 M Roadster. Rather than introduce myself, I will tell you something about the history of this car. All of this information is documented in materials provided to me at the time of sale. The original owner, who resided in Dearborn, Michigan, placed a $500 deposit for a M Roadster at a BMW dealership in Doylestown, PA on February 10, 1997. The car was delivered on April 24, 1998, more than a year later. The deposit was placed well before any M Roadsters were sold. That the owner had to travel to PA to make the deposit, to wait over a year for delivery shows the effort the original owner went to get this car. In an early service record a little more than a year after the car was purchased it showed 5000 miles. A 2015 service record shows 19,000 miles; from '99 to 2015 it was driven 14,000 miles. The final service record is an oil change in June 2020, right before I purchased the car on a Hemmings auction, records the miles at 20K; driven 1K in 5 years. I have driven it about 750 miles during the last 2 years. So what happened to the car that was so greatly desired to cause a person to plan and travel and wait just to get one? Maybe this was the plan all along; maybe things changed.
