From Stockholm, Sweden. I have a BMW Z3 1,9 Cab from 1998. It is in very good condition, except for the electrical seats that don't work.
This is the main reason I found this site, I would like to fix the seats this year and I hope I will find some DIY guide to help me.

The reason I bought the Z3 is that I think it is a truly beautiful car. I enjoy driving it as well as just looking at it.

I’ve repaired quite a few seats. Need to get the seats out to investigate what the problem could be.

You will need to move the seats back and forward to remove the bolts. If the motors don’t work. I found that you need to unscrew the front motor from the frame to get to the spindles. I then put the spindles in a drill and this allowed me to then move the seat forward each side at a time. It does take a while, as you have to do each side an inch at a time, but it works.

If the motors make a quiet click when you press the button on the seat to move them. You know that power is getting to the motor and the motors might be stuck.

Just to add to Jjim thread,
If you use one drill to move seats you need to forward and reverse the drill as you go side to side. When I did mine I used two drills, one on forward, the other on reverse and it is a lot quicker.
Also, I was lucky enough to be able to disconnect the motor connector under the seat before removing anything, and was able to check it with a meter and found there was no continuity through the coil, so I knew it was duff.
