Hi all.
Am looking to be purchasing a Z4 within the next 12 months. I have joined this group to gain information prior to making a purchase. The dilemma I have at the moment is 2.5 or 3lt no doubt everyone will say 3lt but some advice would be appreciated

Welcome. The 3ltr is the one to go for. I know a few people that bought one of the smaller engines and over time the idea of "upgrading crept in to their heads.

Now is a good time to buy as the summer is over so it's a buyers market. If you wait til spring the prices will be a little firmer.

Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey. I had first bought a 1.9L '96. A great little car. After a visit to the rest of the boys and girls in the forum in the UK, I decided to but a 3.2. Both nice cars for different reasons. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever your decision is. Will have to be next summer as saving up at the moment. Want one now but the bank balance won't let me if you know what I mean.

For a price of between 9 and 12k then you will be looking at the E89. The straight 3.0 E89 tends to be a tad slower than the E85 Z4s due to the tin top roof

A 3.0Si (N52B30 engine) E85 owner here, previously with a 3.0i (M54B30). There is also the 2.5Si which is around 220bhp which is well worth a look. Not really looked at the later E89 models as they don't appeal personally.

Some references for you... E85 = Roadster, E86 = Coupe & E89 folding tin top roadster.
