The pack levels can be pretty confusing.
  • There are some early Z3's which have MSport suspension, which is slightly lowered, and was an optional extra. There isn't really an MSport model as such, but people tend to refer to it as that...
  • The vast majority of Z3's have M badges on the gear lever and the steering wheel. It means nothing special.
  • There is a factory Sport model (from around 2000 onwards) which has an increased spec. 15mm lowered sport suspension, Style 78 alloys, Sport heated seats, brushed aluminium console and a few other bits. It should be listed on the V5 as a Sport in the description.
  • There was a Chrome pack which gave various extra bits like chrome door handles and front screen surround.

Thank you gas monkey that is very helpful gives me some idea what to look for, is the factory sports model on all models, or just the higher up one's, I'm more interested in the straight six model more than 1.9 anyway, thanks a lot for your help

The easiest way to think of the factory Sport model is that it's a special edition, rather than an "upgrade" for standard models. You could buy the Sport as it was, or add to it from the accessory catalogue.

Hi guys and ladies John James again, went and had a look at a Z3 that was for sale for £3000 have laid a deposit, the previous owner is going to MOT it for me and get it serviced all in the asking price. The Z3 is a 2000 model 88,000 miles on the clock manual gearbox 2.8 L with electric roof and the bodywork is macular 3 owners from new first owner BMW for 3 months and then 2 Lady owners and always kept in the garage, at the moment I can't pick it up to next week as this weekend. I'm off to the Footman James classic vehicle restoration show 5/6 November, location Bath and West Showground Shepton mallet, Somerset BA4 6QN. I am taking my kit car which is a black and white convertible as I have been asked by complete kit car magazine to have it on the stand, and hoping I can sell it so if any of you are free that weekend and you like to come along to the show, and say hello I'm hoping to find a few bits and pieces for my Z when I get it. I will post some pictures, anyway everybody have a great weekend John James
