Hi,my name is Kieron and I'm a 59 yr English man living in Ireland.
I have owned a BMW z3 1.9 for around 6yrs and try to have it on the road every summer.Just wondering if all z3 s are a little twitchy and tram line a bit.If so any way to improve without needing a bank loan. I would be grateful for any ideas.thanks Kieron

Welcome from Stevenage, most Zedders have suffered the tram lining, tyres & making sure all your rubber bits are in good nick helps a lot. Hope you have some sucess cause when it's fixed the fun multiplies

County Cavan, which is about 15 miles from the border between s.ireland and n.ireland and today it's not raining for a change.
Welcome, you lucky person, we stayed in Cavan (Cabra) Castle about 10 years ago, fantastic country side.
Tyres made the biggest difference on my 2.8, almost totally stopped the tram-lining. Fitted Michelin Pilot Super Sports all round.

Hi,everyone.bit the bullet yesterday and had four new tyres fitted to try and regain control of my wandering Z3.After a lot of advice and living in damp/wet Ireland I went for Uniroyal rainsport 225 50 16 tyres and must say 100 percent better , not as much tramlining and more relaxing to drive. Not tried in wet yet but gets great reviews. Thanks everyone for advice.kieron

Welcome @kieron laws , welcome to the Massive M44!
Glad you solved the problem! Just to complete the info, when i bought my Zed, the front tires were Pirelli, now i understand why! But I changed all four with Fulda, Germany and I'm quite satisfied with them. The tramling comes always on deformed roads, especially because of the havy traffic, but i can live with that. In a couple you can understand and accept the other's part caprices! So, our Zed has some well known "pfoblems" which are part of its charm! It's thousands time better to know and accept few problems , than have loads of unexpected sudden issues, like other brands or models have, keeping you out of the road...!
Wish you many miles and clear sky!
Dan

Hi and welcome, I had budget tyres on my z when I got, it was on 16" rims and handled like a dream, I changed to 18" style 108s also on budgets and it turned into a monster, tram lining was dreadful and felt dangerous over 60 mph, I dropped the pressure from 30 to 28 and it really helped, still not good though, as I was planning to put the car on Eibachs I was advised to have the geometry done at the same time, the results are staggeringly good and now I beam everytime I get in the car as the love is back, the geometry was a mile out down one side.
