Hi Folks!

I happened upon the forum while posting to a Z3 thread on Facebook and thought I'd join. I've owned my Z3 since 1996. It is an August 1996 build 1.9l that was delivered to us in Germany while I was in the Army. I cant believe it is coming up on 20 years!! My wife, Lynn, and I were among the early organizers of the old Z3CCA, now ZSCCA. I'm a retired Army colonel, now president of a small 2 year private college in northeast PA.

Mark

Hello and welcome from Truro. Great looking car, I don't think there are too many people on here who have owned their Z3 from new. How many miles have you clocked?

Thanks! Current mileage is 80,274 miles. The hood and front bumper were just repainted this month - a small "ooops" at the dealer while it was in for service. They repainted the entire hood (no stone chips now - yay!!!!) and I had them do the bumper since it was in the body shop. I am still letting it harden before I touch it.

It's been a great car for us. Had to have the fuel pump recall done (think there was an O2 sensor recall, too?) and that's about it maintenance wise.

And, of course, one needs a Whalen Shift Machine that matches the license plate.

I took the idea for the license plate from an old BMW ad that showed the interior of a BMW with YEEEHA on the shift lever and made it my own.

And you have got your boot rack on the right way round..
Much discussed subject on here.
That is actually how I found the forum - it was referenced on one of the FB groups - saw it while following a discussion showing one of the 007 cars that had the rack backwards. I have had so many people over the years tell me that I had mine on backwards - I actually have copied the installation manual and post pages from it to prove I'm right.

I, with the help of a friend, installed the rack myself. Drilling those holes scared me a bit but it turned out to be fairly easy to install. The locations for the holes are actually marked with indentations on the underside of the trunk.

@Z3YEEHA have you got the OEM BMW suitcase?
Would be willing to sell mine but would have to check on shipping costs.

:welcome: to the forum from West Cumbria. Currently sat at Scotch Corner services and it's lashing it down. Thankfully not in my Zed.

I do have the hard case - and the inner case, too. I rarely use the inner case, though. We just pack our clothes directly into the hard case.

Hello to you Mark. Welcome from me near Lincoln.UK. 20 years is a long time to own a car especially from new. That run in Tenessee looks like one I may get around to in the future.:)

Tony.
