Hi and welcome, I see you e already realized what a great place this is
I'm actually an Arsenal fan...although, not sure I should admit that either!Hi and welcome from Leicestershire, sorry we put 9 past your boys last month![]()
Welcome to the forum from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey...................FrankieGood morning,
I don't know how many new members actually introduce themselves so a bit nervous that this is pointless but here we go anyway!
I recently (yesterday) bought a 2001 Z3 3.0 - I haven't taken any photos yet and it's currently parked up at my parents' until I can bring it back home over Christmas!
A bit of background, I'm from Southampton and previously owned a 2003 E46 330Ci between 2015 and 2018 and then a 2016 F22 M240i between 2018 and September this year. After year of owning the M240i, I realised how much I missed the analogue driving sensation of the E46 and wasn't very impressed with the lifeless steering feel of the F22. I was looking at both the E36 328i and Z3 2.8/3.0 at happened to find a good example of the Z3 3.0 so decided to go for it!
I don't think it needs any immediate work besides a rear screen replacement and maybe some TLC to the interior, but nothing major. So, I guess my first questions to you are:
1) Any recommendations for rear screen replacement? I saw the article written by Aceman in 2014 (?) about their DIY tutorial. My fear is that I won't do it perfectly and I'll end up leaving some gap for moisture... Any recommendations for someone who does these kinds of replacements for a reasonable cost? Happy to buy the part myself.
2) This car has the leather dash and the piece on the trim covering the airbag, above the glove box, has 'bubbled' - any good dash re-trim services out there?
3) The engine management light has come on but the seller assures me that he's had it looked at and no fault code has come up. He seemed reasonable so I mostly believe him and looking through the large stack of papers he gave me, there was an MOT a few years ago that commented on a faulty Engine MIL light so it might be the return of that... any thoughts by anyone?
Looking forward to being part of this community and keen to hear about any meet ups so let me know! I'm also really into detailing so I'll keep my eyes peeled for any tips or discoveries.
Thanks,
Nik
