I too just acquired my first Z3. It is a 2000 Z3 Roadster. After a lengthy search, I finally found one that ended up being in my neighborhood. My search was made difficult because I wanted: bright red, manual shirt, the 2.8L engine, less than 100,000 miles .... at a give away price. (LOL). (Not necessarily in that order) I was able to get everything, except it has the 2.5L engine. And Oh, a good, but not a "give-away" price.

Mechanically, it appears to be rock solid; cosmetically, it has a few minor issues, such as the seatbelt guides, ragged floor mats (new ones have been ordered) and the faux wood console has seen too much sun. Otherwise, everything works and looks good.

I live in the desert southwest, and have enjoyed top-down driving. I am delighted with the comfort on the vehicle (I am 6' 2"). The ride is superb, and I am pleased with the fuel efficiency, although that was not my highest priority.

Has anyone had a good experience with the console kits? From the adds, they just appear to be stick-on decals over the existing factory console. If the car turns out to be as mechanically sound as I think it is, I may, in time, have a custom automobile shop upgrade the interior .... upholstery, and new console. We shall see.

I look forward to the forum, and will be making comments from time to time. I will make every effort to keep my comments fresh, and not "plow-up" old subjects that have been thoroughly discussed elsewhere.

Welcome Felt, Bob from Michigan here, What year is your z? I bought mine back in Oct. and managed to put about 500 miles on it before we had to put it to bed for the winter. Hope to revive it in April. Mine is a 98 ,2.8 L with 58,000 mi. on it. Fun car.enjoy!!

Hi Bob. Mine is a 2000. I was searching for a 1998-2000 when I found this one 10 miles from home. It has the 2.5 L engine, which is not what I was looking for, but it is so clean, and appears to be in wonderful condition that I decided to make an offer.

Fortunately, I am not faced with storing it for the winter. I just bought a wind block after I had experimented with a pice of cardboard. The cabin is comfortable with the heater on, the top down, windows up, and blocking the rear draft.

Here's hoping we both have good luck with our Z's and enjoy many years of fun motoring.

I don't like it at all!! I reserved that for Polly Brown and her two sisters in the Zed photo competition and no 2.8,2.5,2.0 or any other six cylinder can top those girls. Just my opinion!! JIM

Don't forget you will be alienating your "Dad" Jim with his 2.2 and all the other 2.0 and 2.2 six cylinder owners if you follow Dan's suggestion.;).

Tony.

Me Dad's not that spiteful type and understands I'm the independent man I am today because of his teachings. Besides once he has his " accident" I'll have the best of both worlds. And Zeti is only segregating 2.5+ sixes as I read it. Jr.
