So manage to get the headunit working for all of about 20 seconds and then when i went to turn everything off, battery etc to put it back in place and just before i locked it in place, it didnt work. So for all of 20 seconds i had radio and enough time to thank the previous owner who left his Kolsch cd in the headunit.
Since then it has not worked and im thinking that perhaps down to a dodgy connector that a fuse might have blown. Worst, could i ave blown the headunit itself?

I have connected the red 12v in relay with the yellow fuse wire which goes into the harness vis one male to female. This setup worked however, i've got nothing lighting up at all.

Ideas on how to work out whats wrong?

I think the grounding, black wire is attached within the harness. I could be very wrong. The only wiring i did was to included the red12v power cable with in the yellow fuse constant wire.

Jumped out to the car and fuse 9 has blown. Little green 20a fuse. Sadly, it has popped before as the spare fuse was also done. Need to go to the motor factors to get a new one. With the car fuse blown. Is it likely that i'll need to replace the fuse on the head unit as a result? Also need to think about the connection on the live red into the fused yellow harness wire. Need a 'click in' male connector to go in the female. Can't seem to find the specific circular style heads.
