I mentioned that Steve, and I assume that a "flat" beam image is acceptable in mainland Europe just as it is here. (pre Brexit anyway).

@t-tony, I just noticed you'd said the same about the adjusters.
The lesson here is,I should have asked on here before ordering and fitting them .

I also checked the rear lights, one was brighter than the other (tail lights).
One had a 21w brake light bulb fitted instead of a 5w,would have thought it would have been noticed on its mot that was done before we picked up the car from the dealer ?.
I fitted a set to our old Z3 so if you had posted up i would of mentioned that they were adjustable as i did it for one of our euro trips

Fitted a new pair of after market headlights to the French zed at the weekend,in preparation for the "Control technique " and it's new life over there.

View attachment 57101

I wired in the halo rings easy enough, but these new ones don't have the powered adjustment so now there is a redundant 3 pin connector. They have a manual hight adjuster instead, but would be a faff to alter.
Does anyone know what hight etc the light beam should be set at for an mot ? Just so it's something like when it's tested in France , @t-tony .

Steve
Excellent job Steve. Have you thought about fitting cruise control

...You sure there wasn't a way to convert the old lights for continental driving? Bit late now I know..
Not sure there is on oem Z3 light units. On our old Z4 there was an adjuster but you had to get at it from under the wheel arch. You removed a panel and moved a lever, but to get to it to see what you were doing properly you needed to remove the wheel. Real pain to do so I fitted beam reflectors on the face of the headlights.

Got the electrical adjusters fitted to the new lights tonight, without removing the lights again, only took 40 mins.
Lifted the washer bottle up out the way and moved the air filter box a bit to get enough access.

Thanks to all for the help and advice :D.

The 20mm wheel spacers arrived today, should improve the looks a little as they look wider from the rear with them fitted.

Cheers Ant,I was hoping to get a few more jobs done on it before it gets exported, such as painting the calipers and brake disc centres but time, weather and work didn't play ball :meh:.

But it'll give Ben something to fettle when he gets home with it.

Cheers Steve, not given cc any thought tbh. it's probably a bit beyond my capabilities . I guess if Ben wans to add it in the future it'll be something to occupy his time, perhaps in winter, when he can work on it in the luxury of a barn.
