Frankie, AgentB: Is there "another guy from North Jersey or Long Island"? We are getting to be a pretty good sized local group! As for tripping down to DC, be reminded that this area has been honored with having the WORST traffic in the USA, worse even, than LA. But it can be photogenic. Coming here from the north, there are really nice areas between Philadelphia and Baltimore that have great touring roads through what is locally known as "horse country". Other attractions include Longwood botanical gardens (not to be missed), Starr Rose farm, mushroom farms, and the Conowingo dam, across the Susquehanna river. Maybe we'll skip the mushroom farms in our open-top drive (They grow in manure). There is also a vast amount of colonial era historical stuff in this region. Surely, we could have some fun with that in future postings. In a past life, I wrote up rally directions for the BMW CCA National Capitol Region through the area. (lost now), but could be easily recreated, or we could just meet up at the Delaware rest stop on I95 and go from there. While at the rest stop, we could watch the Teslas getting charged up at the supercharger station! VERY exciting, or I could bring some paint to watch drying.

On the local group name, I like your "other side" idea - it references both the "pond" and the steering wheel.

i know that you're right about the traffic. Any time I had to go to the south or coming up from the south, I always tried to time it going through that area late at night or very early in the morning. I really like some of your suggestions for a road trip and would much rather drive in the country as opposed to city driving. I've been to Longwood Gardens twice before and don't mind going back only if I'm taking someone there for their first time. Its not a destination I'd prefer if our purpose is to go driving. That's not to say I want to do only driving. It seems that you know the area better than I and I welcome your ideas for places to drive to. At work now and must go back to the table games. Talk to you later. Looking foward to doing something. Frankie

Hmm. Let me get to work on some ideas for a route. I kind of grew up around that area and in Phila. Right, Longwood is nice, but flowers are not the point of this. Over night, or day trip?

This is where a problem is. Either is ok and as the boys from the other side of the pond say, overnight has its advantages because you can have a nice dinner and a few drinks and don't have to worry about driving. My problem is that I work in a casino where the big action days are the weekend and you can never get off. As a result, my days off are tues. and wed. when everyone else is working.

Definitely have to agree with the awful traffic in the area, getting a little away from dc sounds good
