I've never ran a BMW as a daily only ever had the Z3 and now the Z4. I've tended to have Mercs in the past but after some hunting around settled to this. I have to say, I am seriously impressed with it six weeks in. It has the edge over my last E class for sure. Fingers crossed it has the reliability of the Zeds!

It's lovely mate, I've had a remap done just to get a few more horses and torques out of it to help when towing the caravan. It really is silky smooth

That 2.0d is a good engine..had in a 420 convertible..plenty of grunt, never thought it was underpowered

I know the GT (or hatchback) aren't BMW's most popular models, but I can see the attraction. I bet it has more space inside than my tiny F31 3 series estate, sorry, 'touring'.

They never really took off as they are in essence a hatchback and BMW buyers weren't keen. It's huge, larger internally and externally than my XC90 was as it's actually a 7 series chassis.

The big test was today as we have towed the caravan with it for the first time. The GT is 300kg heavier than the tourer. It handled it superbly

They make remarkable value for money, we looked at the tourer which is bang on but was a tad light for the caravan. The GT is actually based in a 7 series chassis so is longer and 300kg heavier.

It's a cracking engine but just wanted a bit more unmph for towing. We originally wanted the 530d but couldn't get one that hadn't been hammered. The remap has added 80tq and 40bhp so has made the difference I was after.
