My 3 series - a company car- is due to be handed back later this year, and it makes sense for me to come out of the scheme My head tells me buy a 120d but my heart is telling me a 135/140i, anybody got any experience of the 135/140 re running costs etc? Are they as awesome as the figures suggest?

I been looking at the 240iM - the newer engine are quite frugal - but not in the league of 120D.

I look at manufactures MPG figures and reduce 15% - and I find that to be an accurate figure for me.

The issue is down to driving style - I can get 50+ MPG out of my motor - but drive like a hooligan lol - and get on average 32Mpg.

I would avoid the 135i - as a mate of mine has one - great car - in every way but not economic to drive.

Thanks I get 54/55 out of the 320D and I can probably live with 32-35 for a short term- I am set to retire in 2 years what did your friend get out of the 135?

Well my experience out of an 335i was 22MPG - and my mate again is 20's

But in the second video - he is getting 40mpg at 80mph

Very much about driving style

The other option is a 228i or 230i

Gave into temptation and got a 140, boy is it quick. Makes me smile as much as the Z3. I am lucky.

Good choice.
Can’t see the logic in spending thousands to save pennies if you don’t do mega miles.
(And then I did and an lpg conversion on a 330i to avoid having a 2.0d - aaah those were the days when Cars were simple. Apparently turbo cars can be highly tuned with LPG to take advantage of the high RON but not seen it done mainstream yet).

Used to own a Saab 9-3 1.9 LPT to which a previous owner had fitted an LPG conversion (commercial installer). Miss that car. Unfortunately turned out that the LPG was probably all that was done by that owner barring very basic servicing. Lots of things needed fixing and in the end I gave up throwing money at it. Real shame. I'd have another converted car in an instant (but not one that had been used as a taxi!).

Nice choice. I'm sure you'll enjoy the power. I think you would have regretted getting the oil burner for sure.
