Treat for a couple of years 530E plug in hybrid

Faster than our 2.8 but it does not feel like it and does not sound as nice, totally silent most of the time.

Recently bought a 330e. Done 550+ electric miles out of 1,700 now. Says we’ve saved over 80L of fuel. Not bad in 6 weeks. That’s about 9p per mile reduction over those electric miles. Getting 75mpg overall and 45mpg on the ICE.
Many of those electric miles would have been on a cold engine where the engine would have cold for much if not the whole journey it were being used.
The silence is deafening!

Are you installing a home charger? The supplied one is likely to burn out your socket if you use it long term.

We had a nissan leaf before but the charger cable is different so getting it changed. I have charging at work as well as loads in milton keynes . 155 miles with only 15 using petrol. We had a go in a 330e but this was much cheaper to lease than the 3 series and has more toys.

Thankfully I'll be dead before I have to buy an electric car. I'm sure they are very good, but I'm glad to have lived through the glorious noizy smelly petrol era. V12 BRM flying round Silverstone years ago, now that's what a car should sound like.

I've always preferred the 5 to a 3 series even in ///M guise. Just having the extra room does it for me. I loved the early 2000's ///M with the 5.0 V8 in it.
I think you will enjoy the 530 and if you got it much cheaper than the 330 it's a .... :thumbsup:from me.

Perhaps in the future, guys will talk about batteries the way we talked about cylinders. It was: "It's a 4 cylinder but it really packs a punch!!" or "This straight 6 has torque up the a$$." or "Its got a 496 cu. in. V8 that has a top end off the charts!!".
What will they talk about in the future? Their Batteries?........."Oh Man!! I'm packing 18 12 volters and now it's a real (silent) screamer"...........Frankie

We're talking kWh, kW and the diameter of the pickup cable.

BTW - The first electric car appeared over 50 years before the first internal combustion engined one! What goes around comes around. ;)

Me too

Don’t say that!

You never know - the government might pedal backwards - just like Brexit.

Soon you’ll all have to pass a fart noise test, cos the world will be so quiet.
Hope to god I’ll be scattered somewhere or other before I have to show one finger to the driverless vehicle. Just imagine after an accident the DV computer saying, “but it was my right of way” Do you really think the human brain can really be surpassed. Fools rush in etc.
