Wow brought me to tears ;-)

I too spend all my time on org now such a great new site and it's great for the people who have set this up for us, so I'll show my appreciation by being here and doing my bit to make sure it works what little it may be! Yeah I won't forget net and all the posts and people I met through the site but I seriously think it's time to move on. Here's to the future and 2012 + can we have a beer jug smiley? :D

Bye Bye .net

Forunately myredzed has answered my query :)

Tried to get on it at 04:30 this morning and it's back! No explanations, though and I still can't see the promised upgrades.

Should I be surprised? Probably not!

Mark, I suppose I should say good on you for trying to stick with it but after having read the thread on .net ................... (-|

Mike, the .net site was the first car forum site id ever been on!.

I have been on it many times everyday for the past year

i have to say, I've met many great people on there and made new friends (very good ones too).

but, this site is growing and the owners/designers, call them what you like are so much more involved.

they don't just set it up and make the odd tweak now and again, they are involved all the time!.

that has to be a good thing.

the real test, is the users deciding what is the best site for them.

mark

But then i`m biased,sheep icons,Aliens,and convertable icon,pity its not silver though :D

I'm sorry Gary but I doubt it. Even if he was it would be common sense to post up a thread letting people know this in advance, the fact even your not sure says it all really.

I can only think Tim does not really give much thought to .net anymore but worse the loyal people who are trying to support him on there such as yourself, bad show all round no matter how you look at it :-q

I believe the .net site is on its last throws, which is a damn shame.

.net has been a great resource for me for everything, I met some firm friends on the site, but I believe its only a matter of time before the site goes down, never to return sadly.

Why anyone would allow such a successfull site too reach its current state beats me.

Shame on Tim Cullis...

I really don't think its fair to say "Shame on Tim Cullis"

The simple fact is from what I can see is Tim Cullis simply isn't interested in the .net site anymore, I mean why should he be? as far as I know he doesn't own a Zed anymore and has moved on. I don't think we should be berating him if that is the case.

My main bone of contention is the guy asked for donations towards maintenance and with a view to upgrading the .net site which never materialised and is unlikely too. As I have already said, he has given no explanation as too what happened with the sponsorship monies collected, so I can only think the worse and assume he has spent the monies on other things. In other words I do feel he has taken us for fools in certain respects :-s :-w

Tim.

Consider this and I'm not being critical of anyone or anything.

When the Z3 was introduced all those years ago Tim Cullis had one and started zroadster.net. He arranged lots of events and was enthusiastic to a fault. When the S54 M was released he bought one and was even more enthusiastic. Then along came the Z4 and Tim swopped his M for a top of the range all singing, all dancing Z4. Same again lots of enthusiasm etc.

Then along came a long term illness, which I am not prepared to discuss. However his interest shifted to trail bikes.

zroadster still continued and still does, to a point.

Now consider this - in, lets say, 5 years time all the mods and admin on here have moved on to driving Audis/Mercs/Porsches etc are you still going to be as enthusiastic with this forum?
Human nature being what it is would say no you are not.
This is a young vibrant website run by Z enthusiasts but is based on chit chat among a small group of friends - nothing more. Nothing wrong with that but will you still be contributing when you have moved on?

Well put Phil
Point taken

Hi all,

I'm very wary of threads like this on here. We aren't trying to compete with .net. They are doing what they do, and we are doing what we want to do in a completely different way.

I've seen the 'banter site' reference before, and to be honest I won't get in to arguments or point scoring (this message is not aimed at you Phil, you at least have a balanced view of things, and have the stones to stand up and make public comment!)

The last thing I want is to end up with petty inter-site squabbles or having to deal with irate emails.

Feel the love :ymhug:

Gary.
