My vote is .org, I feel like I'm part of something new and fresh. If I can access the .net knowledge database with this notepad thing-a-me-jigger then its win win for me.

I feel that .net is like your Grandad from the war (God bless 'im).
Still got a story or two, a wealth of knowledge and experience, but a little dated and when it falls over - it can take a little while to get up and running again.

I personally fail to see the benefits of .org over .net, it is in fact a poor clone of .net, looks the same and feels the same, excepts it lacks a good front end, which in fact.net has. Yes this will be down to development time, and i am sure in the near future it will have the same bells and whistles as .net.
The only benefit is in that it is being run by enthusiasts, and i am sure that at the beginning Tim Cullis was an enthusiast, but hobbies fall by the way side and i am sure the same will befall .org at some time in the future.

Although it appears .net is not driven by an enthusiast at present, it is most certainly the most comprehensive knowledge base on the Z3 currently on the web, until .org can take this mantle, it will always be the poor relation.

I think .org is like the young and enthusiastic apprentice who has been let loose because the master is ill.
The new look and the willingness to listen is great, but until the core knowledge is there, I'll still want to see the master.

I'm not really sure we want to clone something thats already out there. That would be exceptionally easy from a technical point of view and fairly pointless from a duplication view.
In someways familiarity is nice, but it could limit what we are able to do with the latest internet technologies. As I've posted before, this board provides a framework and the ability for a community to exist. If it doesn't exist in 6 months time, it will be down to either not providing what YOU want, or because interest wains.

Others would be able to fix the site, but Tim seemed to be the only one who holds access to it. If one of the regulars had access I'm sure it would have been back up and running within hours, not a couple of weeks. Yet as Tim only posts once every few months asking for donations, it means it could be months at a time before he logs onto the site and notices a problem, unless another member contacts him.
My vote is with .org at the moment also only because we are being listened too and like you say if Tim is not prepared to listen then the site will soon disappear and that's his choice alone, the offers are there, its now down to Tim.

And you are right that Tim was an enthusiast as some point and they all come and go but he has offers there for the enthusiasts to take over now and do the work for him. This means he wouldn't lose the site and wouldn't have to post occasionally just asking for donations, the longer he leaves it without a decision the bigger and better .org will become and .net will fade away.

I am not being negative, i just think we need to direct the site to become much more than .net ever was, at present it is delivering a lot of posturing, it needs drive, direction, and promotion to the values and objectives that members want from a forum, if it is just a social and a boys club, then move onto face book.
However if it is about community and keeping these much cherished cars on the road then .org should become the new repository for Z3 advice and technical data, and we should set the rules. I would gladly be prepared to part with cash to keep this site updated and future proofed if the benefits are promoted and transparent. £10 on .net from each member is ludricous, it is not stated the cost of running or the guarantee of modifications or indeed the purpose of such funding.
.org should not be tainted by this and If .org is to stand a chance it has to have a mission and values that stand for the community, and it has to deliver.
I am happy to help and promote in which ever capacity i can........

Basically and what is seen on many posts in .net is that when a person seeks advice they generally are only looking for praise on what they have already instilled.

Sorry .net I think .org is the way forward.
Just one little niggle with .org is that I liked the show posts since last visit option, if I go to unread posts I have 10 pages showing. I cant read everthing but like to see whats been posted but only from my last visit.
