We've done it a couple of times and the scenery definitely improves once you get up to John O'Groates. Then when you get over onto the West coast it is superb. Hope this excellent weather holds for you and you have a great time:thumbsup:

The NC500 is seen as some sort of mercurial route but at least 1/3 of it really isn't very interesting.

I always say this to anyone who says they want to do it -don't bother with the eastern side of the NC500 and spend more time in the Western Highlands instead and make sure to take in Skye, Oban, possibly Mull &/or Arran - and if you're feeling adventurous add in Harris/Lewis. These places are a much better use of your time & money than spending time around Inverness, JoG, Wick/Thurso etc - and the roads are a lot quieter also.
