National Anthem ( footballers)

Being relaxed keeps the blood pressure down and leads to a longer life, that's my motto and I plan on having some relaxation therapy this afternoon at the legion with my good friends Guinness and Guinness!! JIM

Yes all our footballers sang today :p
Well done to them ;)

They've been having lessons. Shame that some of them haven't also learnt how to kick a blown up pigs bladder into the onion bag - yes I mean you Stirling!

Well as a fan of anything English/British I would sing my heart out, BUT!!!!!!!!! Have you ever seen Billy Connolly take the pee out of the national anthem, he goes on to say we might as well have the Archers music theme cos ours is so boring. He's got a point, look at the Germans," Deuchland ober Allas" which roughly translated is "Germany Over Everyone Else" now they sing that like they won the last war, so what about "Rule Britannia" even if our fleet is very small. Think about it God Save the Queen, yes nothing wrong with supporting her but how bloody boring is that song especially if your not religious.( no offence to those who are) Connolly may have been taking the pee being a Scot but there was something in his pee taking that hit home for me,( even if I found it on You Tube I couldn't post it anyway,) so if you would like a laugh find and post it for me, maybe you'll se my point and have a sly giggle as well.
Rha, Roy.

Actually they haven't sung those lyrics since unification in 1990. That is the first verse and only the third verse is now their anthem. It caused some embarrassment at a sporting event a couple of years ago when the wrong version was played.

Hahahahaha, even the little English boys sang better than the Dutch team and I am GOB SMACKED that the English team even remembered the words, or did they????????=))=))=))
Hard to tell Roy, as I think the cameraman had St. Vitus dance.;)

having been lucky enough to play in more than my fair share of finals and big games I know that I personally need to focus and build my adrenaline in a way that works for me - as much as I love the anthem and I am immensely proud of our pomp and circumstance I know that singing would just distract me. I reckon must players are in the same boat... nervous, focused concentration

Fair comment mate, being a viewer watching what you see on TV perhaps we get the wrong impression. What should work for one maybe doesn't work for every one?

 Yeah its one of those very odd things. Don't get me wrong, I hate when/if I see someone who doesn't have the ultimate desire for his team or country, but everyone is very different and I've found that each individual needs to learn what gives them the that little bit more edge (even if they don't know it initially as I didn't).

Go ask Lewis Hamilton to sing the National anthem on the start line after the warm up lap. What do you think his reply would be. I would rather the players just bowed their heads and got their focus for what is to come. Its easy to knock the players as overpaid and thick, but who wouldn't do a job they loved for big money. Our fans can sing loud enough to make up for the players.

A Scotsman walks into a pub, usually there's an Englishman, an Irishman & a Welshman with him but they're all in France for the Euros.

That was below the sporran Mike.
