Hi everyone, what ismthe name and size of the bolts securing the hardtop on the z3.

M8x18 you need two for securing the front of hardtop to the car. Reference No 3 in the diagram above.

You talking about the head of the bolt?
You can use Torx kit straight out of your tool box at home if you are missing the BMW one in the boot tool kit.
I know because I have done it.

They have a rubber seal fitted which stops the bolt from falling out of the socket when it's unscrewed.

The head is also a specific shape to fit into the socket.

It's been discussed before and I don't think anyone has found a cheap and effective way out of this with a regular bolt.

They are about £8 each from the dealer.
