So, having seen Lee's coupe a while back I have always had an itch to own one myself and with my birthday last week I decided the time was right to treat myself.

So last week I took out a Z4M coupe and as soon as I opened the taps I knew I had to have one in my life. All I can say is that it is a proper hooligan !! Insurance and tax all sorted and I am picking her up later today. There are a few jobs I want to do (including a visit from Mr Vanos) so I will be scouring the archives, and certain peoples knowledge (you know who you are - and you brought it on yourself for your extended threads of your cars!! :p) for information.

Pictures below at #12

(PS - yes, the Z3M is staying!)

Funny how you get the urge, I was toying with the idea of a coupe for a while, had a look at a Black Z4mc in Glasgow realised how much the annual road tax is and ran a mile, I settled for the Miss Daisy version a 3.0si , however I must add I’m well pleased.

You will definitely need to pull on your big boy pants to have fun in the Z4MC - I'd happily lend you mine from when I had the Ruby Black one but they all had to be destroyed =))

Amazing, we need more coupes on our runs out.

I hope you lot aren't telling your Wife's how much of a bad influrnece I can be.
Would I say that to my wife? Course not, I just said this Guy in Basingstoke made me do it.........................

I wish I lived a little closer a run out would be great.

Ok, so here is the afore mentioned hooligan - Through a garage receipt and review I have already spoken to 1 previous owner, he put the intake, splitters, exhaust and CSLs on the car... I am sure someone else will probably know something about it too but this is the exciting part where I start to find out its secrets and make my own little changes and mods.

I have already ordered a short antenna, and the all important key ring 😄

So far the "issues" are:
  • Vanos Growl - Mr Vanos is booked in to come round early April and do Vanos, Oil Pump, Timing Chain and Shims.
  • Windows wont go up with one touch on either side? - Fixed the drivers side one by using @t-tony suggestion below - the passenger one was more tricky but was resolved using proceedure #2 from here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15677
  • Missing tool kit? - Bag and tools ordered from ebay, thanks for the suggestion
  • Missing puncture repair slime - temp puncture repair kit ordered instead
  • Can't connect bluetooth - Ive tried getting the iphone to look for the car on immediate start up and I have pressed the button on the rear console door but it doesnt seem to put the car into pairing mode? - Now sorted thanks to many of the forum comments in the knowledgebase - wow all I will say is that it is a very particular pairing proceedure !! And boy do I miss touch screen technology!! Definitely time to cleanse my phone book!!
  • Previous owner has an old phone cable hanging down in the glovebox - I assume this must be connected to a power source somewhere behind the dash - any ideas if there is a hidden USB somewhere? - Thanks for the reply Gaz, apparently the old school ipod connection, shame I got rid of the old ipod years ago, although having done some digging about you needed to create 6 playlists specific for the car and thats all it could play therefore the cable will be hidden behind the fuse box and I will use the Aux socket to stream music from my phone.
  • Rear M badge needs a colour refurb - Old sticker removed and Aceman refurb kit successfully fitted - ok it was a Z3 one rather than the Z4 one but you have to be very close to notice and looks much better
  • No halos on the headlights (is this normal? Is there an upgrade option) however the lights are very bright - much better than the OEM Z3 ones
  • No SatNav DVD - I think I need a "HIGH" maps dvd to resolve this - obviously a recent one - there are some on ebay and they talk about the compatability with the MK4 DVD unit in the car which I have checked.
  • No cruise control fitted - retrofit parts ordered from BMW dealership (£90 for stalk, £30 for the wiring harness - Note ebay is dearer!) fitting to follow when I get round to it
I have also no idea what the "Sport" button does - it performs like a missle without pressing that!

Looking forward to seeing what other people have done to upgrade theirs. USB, charging points and phone holder being the first thing

No, Mr Vanos will actually be at mine fixing it that weekend so I will be in the Z3M instead - I did think about putting it off to the weekend after but decided it was better to get it done then I know the engine is fine. It'll definitely be on some runs this year though

Looks a beast, it certainly looks like it’s got all the bits, not much needed maybe a few additions to personalise?
I’ve not done anything to mine, it’s bog standard as it comes, sometimes wish instead of when I was looking for the lowest mileage with the fewest owners,
when I see the quad exhausts and the CSL reps it makes me think should I have gone for 90k miles 5 owners instead of my One owner 30k full Sytner BMW service history?
I have to keep mine stock 🤔, or do I ?

She's a beaut! Which exhaust does it have? The windows just need reprogramming, there are plenty of guides on the net to follow. Usually forgets it's programming if the battery goes dead flat.

Tool kits and rolls can be bought from ebay, either as a whole or individually. PN's easy enough to find from realoem, then cross match the PNs with other models. I went with an aftermarket towing eye which works fine.

The cable in the glove box, is it an iPod connector in which case it's likely the factory iPod integration which is what mine has.

Also, if you don't have a copy of this in your manual pack it's worth a read. Not just from an information perspective, just that you can immerse yourself in BMW ///M marketing and realise just how special your car is, and by association how special YOU now are
