CAUTION My other passion, Falconry

Great photos @Sean d :p
Lovely write ups ;)

Beautiful photos of a wonderful bird
Thank you, he was a pain at times and would straight line after a pigeon or crow, I once tracked him 5 miles away.
Heres the pick up and hooded, you can see in the first pic that he is gaping, means he has had a good work out, as soon as you see this is time to give them the lure or they will land somewhere creating bad habits

Very interesting pics, would love to see a bird working! Thanks, JIM

We used to often see Sparrow hawks from our kitchen, and as our Gary (aged about 4) exclaimed one day while watching one, "That bird's not working!"

Just been talking to our neibour and I have the perfect job for @hard top and sidekick ...hawk inseminator ,first you have to express the semen from the cock bird then satisfy the hen every hour and a half

Great pictures Sean, of a beautiful bird, stunning.

My wife got me a Falconry experience day for a gift a few years back. Its one of the best days of my life. We got to handle lots of different birds from a Merlin up to a Golden Eagle. They went through the basics of what to expect if you were to take up the hobby. We went for a field walk with a Harris Hawk to let it hunt. Getting it back out of the hedges was the hardest bit. I came away wanting to get a bird and still would love to have one, but the reality is that I could not give it the time it needs. One day, for now I will have to make do with my 10 year old Canary.

Your hawk didn't tackle that Heron did it?
