I sold most of mine pal, just have the basics now, I also used to really enjoy winter pike

winter pike, fantastic, i go fly fishing for pike, hooking pike on fly gear is amazing. there are loads of these fantastic birds where i work, the resident crows (rooks ) go nuts, but the hawks just go higher out of there reach, there is tons of wildlife including rabbits so there is no shortage of food, they often sit on posts just outside the warehouse.

I don't like hunting of any type @Sean d but totally understand your passion for the birds. They are stunning looking creatures and to be so close to them must be incredible. We spend a lot of time in the pine woods near where we live as Jue rides her horse and we walk the dogs in there everyday. Last summer we found a buzzard that had been shot in the wing and left to die. I know people don't like them as they are raptors but to me everything deserves to live it's life without peril other than through natural course. We did what we could to save it but it died the following day of lead poisoning. I have no issues at all with what you enjoy but it's just not for me.

I have always been around hunters, my dad and uncle used to shoot loads when I was growing up - again to put fresh food on the table.
My uncle still shoots now in his mid seventies and I am in the very lucky position to get a good amount of pigeon and pheasant from him.
We also have a small woodland that has a couple of pheasant family's in it which we feed.

Watching birds of prey fly and work is mesmerizing, its one of those things you always have to stop and watch where ever you are.
im at work again today, but reading through this post and the pictures has put a great smile on my face

Hi Sean, if you can get your hands on some, try Muntjac meat Burgers, minced Muntjac and a little pork fat, an egg and some Dill. Mix it together, make it into burger shapes and cook it on the bbq, they're lovely.

Thanks for that pal and I totally understand your feelings, I was exactly the same and to be honest I hate to take the life of another animal and always feel some remorse every time a hawk makes a kill, makes me sound like a hypocrite I suppose but the drive to succeed with a hawk and be part of that team takes over, its not just me and the hawk, I also use my lab and ferrets, all need to be trained to come together.

Perigrin Falcons with another falcon which I think is called a gyr
And sells every one to the oil sheikhs for thousands of pounds.
They race them over there and he wins loads of races which makes
His birds the ones to buy.
He dotes on his birds ,lives on site during breeding season to make
Sure they all survive! Has one pay day a year but it is worth millions
Apparently.started as a hobby and turned into a business bliss!!

Muntjac is Venison Sean, Some say the meat tastes stronger than meat from our native Deer. I would certainly not recommend it Jointed, that might be too strong a taste. Unlike Roe which cooks beautifully.

The beauty of Harris hawks is that they can be hunted in a cast (more then one) and they will work as a team, this pair is a mates cast and my male on a hen bird, this is one of my favourite pics of him, his crest is up and I like the atmosphere of the pic

I also breed Kestrels, this is last summers clutch, 3 males, unfortunately the female laid on the floor of the pen so I let her hatch them and then hand reared them as I was worried about pests getting in.
