That issue was on the 2.2, but the corrosion on the piston was no match for a file and emery clothHow did you get on with your calliper in the end Dave ?

If you mean in the well by the soft top bows, that may be your problem. I've just removed the hardtop install hardware to sell it with my unneeded hardtop. My top has an rear window defroster. There is a wire connector that bridges a male and femail three pin connector and connects to the hardtop mount to provide power and switching. After I removed the mount with the wire connector, I had to reconnect the two three pin plugs to get power (or switching) to the soft top. So you should have matching connectors down in that well, one from the cockpit and one from the rear fender/trunk (or boot).Did you fix the electric hood? It worked until the muppet who owned it before me fitted the hardtop and seemingly disconnected it.
I could see the two connectors in the well next to the passenger seat so hopefully just needed re connecting.
Looks GREAT!!!!!! Gook Luck with her............................FrankieBought my new Z3 from a forum member and picked her up today. Many thanks to @Bozzy for coming over and taking me up to the seller and helping put the hardtop on. Never realised how heavy and awkward they are to man-handle. Anyway a superb drive across the Peaks, stopping at Longnor for a tea/coffee stop with Steve then home. A superb 55 miles, she purred all the way.
