My new car

:scorecard: What a beautiful Z , I love it ,:p

Quite possibly the handbrake cable. Try easing the handbrake on a click or two while driving just to tension the cables.

Tony.

ps. Lovely looking car!

Spot on t-tony - I took the car out for a Sunday spin, I clicked up the handbrake a notch or 2 and hey presto the rattle stopped.

Should I start saving for new pads or h/b cable or both ? :-)

Nice Zed !

Well done on the purchase

Dave

How many clicks do you have on the handbrake? Sometimes all you need to do is adjust the cables up a litlle bit.

Tony.

Great looking Z (They all are) but really love the colour

Hi, lovely car, I too have an estoril blue z3. Best colour ;), Everyone will agree lol.
With regards about the handbrake cable, if pulling the hand brake up alittle stops the rattle, then gently remove the hand brake gaitor in the car and you will see 2 nuts. if the rattle is coming from the rightside, tighten the nut on the right-hand side. it just takes the slack out of the cable. only turn the nut a couple of turns at a time and road test it till the rattle stops. its very common. Enjoy !

Looks like a great car, enjoy :D

The car is lovely to drive but it has an annoying 'tin can rattle' coming from the O/S/R (doesn't rattle when stationary) - any ideas ?
Nice looking Zed ..... check the spare wheel carrier for the rattle

Rather than just adjusting up the cable(s), since you've only just bought it it might be better to have a look inside the drums and make sure there's nothing actually coming apart in there. Nothing complicated in these brakes, but better safe than sorry, it may be low mileage but still 15 years old.
