My last Friday and Monday

In a few years the state pension won't be available until your 75 at least imho.
In fact people won't be able to afford retirement.
It will be a short journey from work to the crematorium.
I feel sorry for the generations of the future.
Unless you have a well paid job the outlook isn't very good. Imho

Oh Enjoy your retirement mate!

Congratulations Brian time to slow abit and enjoy the better things in life at leisure

I am hoping to go on a 3 day week when i retire, as her indoors has got at least that amount of days work for me =))

At least you have your health back mate
That is very true Paul. More important than anything, I don't begrudge working really, most of us have to do it. I would like less hours doing it to make a decent wage tho. 65 again this week.

I was very lucky to be able to retire nearly 4 years ago. At the same time we relocated to Aylsham in Norfolk from West Chiltington in West Sussex. That being so, we worked hard to integrate into the new society, but were lucky as the folks here are very friendly and welcoming.
Most days we find we are busy with something, either together or separately, and if we do have a free day we often Jump into Zelda and go out for lunch somewhere nice, or just chill out in the garden. What is great is that I've found a Blues Club that have jam sessions twice a month, so I'm back playing drums again on a regular basis.
And we have 3 grand children fairly nearby to tire us out! We have good health, which is the main thing. Also I think having the right outlook on life and a sense of humour is a must. Chris says I haven't grown up yet, I hope don't ever act my age, whatever that means.

:drinks: all

Bonzo.

Well done, Brian. Now that we are both retired, Richard only working a few days a month, we can go out whenever like. Must say that Richard has been busier than ever, preparing the ground for new driveway and double garage. Lost count of the number of skips he has filled with a little help from me. That is when I'm not out for lunch with friends or volunteering in the primary school. The only problem we have found is that we never really know what day of the week it is!!

That's great news Brian :beer

It's 6 yrs before I can reduce my hours, but to be honest I'm a bit apprehensive now I've hit 60. I suppose I only really work 4 days now, although I'm out of the house for 5 days. I leave the house between 5 and 6am on Monday morning to travel to Pompey dockyard. I usually get there 11.30 ish so I only do half a day on Monday, I leave for home at 11am on Friday, so just do 3 full days, 2 half days plus the travel.
I love my job but I suppose it's inevitable that I'll have to reduce my hours and stop all together at some point.

Don't panic but she'll gradually ramp the three to seven! A man speaking from experience but one that doesn't necessarily take suggestion well!! So she's lucky if she can get three days a week! Stick to your guns and fire back with suggestions on what she can do!! JIM

good luck Brian, i've been on 3 day week for last 7 years and love it. could'nt go back to 7 days now.

36 here mate! Probably more when retirement age inevitably changes

@Mnbrennan quote: "36 (years to retirement) here mate! Probably more when retirement age inevitably changes."

All the more reason to go out on all the cruises possible now as by the time you retire, many of us will be ghost riders.........................Frankie

3 and bit years for me,and looking at the online calculators for the days to go. Not quite ticking off the calendar yet.

Congratulations. I retired in February and it's the best thing ever, I still have to keep pinching myself that I do not have to go to work again.
