Hello, recently got my z3 2001 2.2i. Managed to get the car fairly cheep and in good condition. Will be getting it through the mot in the next week or so. Most of the work I’ll be doing with my dad as a little project. My question is, is there anything that could do with being replaced, or upgraded? The car has been sat for a year.

Hi Matt, it really depends on what, if anything has been replaced during the car's life. By the way welcome from me near Lincoln. The most common things that usually need replacement are the suspension rubber components and shock absorbers, plus the rubber inlet manifold boots and cooling system, ie. water pump, thermostat, fan drive etc. Check any history you may have and give it a good look over.. What is the mileage of the car? Where are you located please?

Where to start you will like most of us start looking after your new purchase and never stop I would just go through the huge amount of threads on here, if there is a job that needs doing on a zed someone on here had tackled it.

My advice for starters....give it a darn good service, all oils (including gearbox and diff), filters, coolant and brake fluid and check everything you can visually check.
