As some of you may know my Z3 2.8 is my first car at 17 years old.
I have been looking forward to doing a road trip like this for many years. I spotted that the British Rally Championship were hosting a rally near the Brecon Beacons in April. I have always been in love with/ around motorsport for much of my life but somehow I had never seen a rally! Having been told what a lovely area it is I found and booked a nearby campsite.
Week before the trip:
I could not believe my luck, on my way home from work (10 min journey) a rock was flicked up by the car in front and put a sizeable 6 inch crack on my rather new windscreen.
And if that wasn't unfortunate, 2 days before the trip I found a nail in my 1500 mile old Michelin tyre! Fortunately, a friend owed me a favour so it was replaced that same day.
Friday:
I drove the 3hr 30 mins up there (mostly A roads) on Friday afternoon with a Z3 full of stuff! It really made me think about what I was packing! I was cooking all my food so there is certainly lots of stuff that goes along with that!
Saturday:
The BRC website had only released the stage locations a few days ago and unfortunately both the spectator stages were nearly an hour away from the campsite!
However, the early start and drive exposed me to some fantastic roads.
]
Sunday:
Goal - Drive as many nice roads as possible!
Quick trip to breakfast in Brecon
Black Mountain Pass:
\
Over 150 miles of mountain road driving was completed this day.
Trip Stats:
Avg MPG: 27
Motorway MPG: 36
Trip mileage: 540mi
Lots of rain
Overall, I throughly enjoyed my time in South Wales and am sure I will be returning in the not too distant future.
