remember this hosted many of these using software cant remember the names now..... used to dial up to newport and lines were alway engaged...Historically, a forum is an evolution from a "bulletin board system" (or BBS) when the number of people who could connect was determined by how many phone lines you had connected to the server. When I started at a company back in '91 we had a BBS which had 8 incoming phone lines, each with a separate modem connected to the server - which incidentally sat on a desk in the corner of the office. Customers could dial in and grab all sorts of support information from it, and converse with other customers and support staff.
This is how Zorg could have looked in the 80's... Looks a bit like the old Ceefax system on TV's. At the time it was quite impressive...
