Music makes you stop & think......

I have all the ELO albums on these big flat black plastic discs... and a arm with a spike that seems to get some sound out of them... must be witchcraft... CDs are ok, but the warmth of vinyl takes some beating..

and own up... who actually sang along to the tune.. Mr Blue Sky..

We still have a stack of vynil mate but nowt to play them on anymore:(.

Tony.

I have kept my turntable. Its a B & O one and its great. Works so well as you would expect. You can find them on eBay but the prices have gone stupid. I will never sell it as its just great for the nostalgia

We used to have a Midi system with turntable Paul, nothing fantastic but adequate and if we had some friends round for drinks the vynil would come out for the same reason mate.

Tony.

I heard vinyl out sold cd,s recently which I find staggering to believe , I Remember all the old vinyl shops closing 20 years ago, only now to be booming again, vinyl sounds so different to CDs,but I to wouldn't have anything to play them on, but as hard top said music makes u think, the last musician I pulled over to before Harry styles was 3 years ago, and that was joe bonamassa ,who is an amazing guitarist , thank you radio 2 ,music really does make u think

I don't know much hardtop about naim kits , but I assume they were like the Bose off today ,he best hang to that,as retro things are doing a full circle, as a friend off mine recently paid nearly a £1000 for a Raleigh chopper bike , IDIOT

Did he shrink himself to fit Jimmy?=)) I've seen grown men riding those things and man they look stupid.

Tony.

Ide love to see him ride it, but merlot and peroni as taken its toll on him now, it stands in his hallway, never been used, I told him to buy a cheap Zed which he wouldn't look stupid in, as long as he didn't wear is roll neck and farah trousers

Bloody good advice mate, unless you like a good laugh!=))=))

Tony.

ps. By the way, if someone has restored the one my cousin had as a kid, they must be a magician :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Was playing this album this afternoon and suddenly realized that it is almost 40 years old.
How time flies eh..!!!

Missed this thread Mike. Brilliant album, I'm a big Genesis fan got some albums on vinyl but nothing to play them on now. My Technics linear tracking deck had its stylus broken by one of the kids when they were young. They are 28 & 26 now...

Get a deck with a USB port Minty, not that expensive these days.....
I have all their albums as MP3s so can still listen that way. But as others have said vinyl has all the information, CDs or any digital files, by definition has some missing...

Anyone found a liking for Rag and Bone Man, I have. Maybe not driving sounds but I like him, also George Ezra, great voice. Hope his next album is as good as Wanted on Voyage.

Tony.

Sounds like we're all of a certain age - Found a good seam of nostalgia here. Love all the bands mentioned so far and there's dozens yet to be listed. Top of my list are Santana - Carlos will rival Joe Bonnamasa any day and the Latin beat gets you going. Next is a great band from Wakefield - Be-Bop Deluxe. How could you not like a song titled "Adventures in a Yorkshire Landscape"?

lol sitting not 4 foot away from me is our record player 33 1/3 45,s & 78s still plays
& the sound is so much more rich to a cd
the mutli changer in the z as Chris Rea / Eagle,s /Fleetwood mac /a best of rock / Bread & ELO
