Mrs Grumps new wheels.

We were well stung with the Sorento, wouldn't go near Korean again.
Different evolution Dave. Can't compare TBH.

Tony.

I like Kugas nice well proportioned motor. 2 or 4 wheel drive ?

2. She really wanted a 4 but it's not really a necessity, she does go up and down a farm track every day but it's only when we get snow it becomes a problem.

Dave Kuga pretty well screwed together.
The Peugeot derived diesel ( that powers Ford Volvo and Peugeot) is pretty sound ( my only warning is dont use fuel cleaners the fuel pump bearings are coated and lubed by the fuel additives strip the coating off causing expensive pump failure)
Occasionally have seen leaking front shocks in older ones but like I say on the whole pretty good .
Tyres will be a bit eyewatering having the 19's on

Fetched Jues new wheels this morning and driven it back from Leeds and I have to say I am mightily impressed. It's the 2.0 tdci but the smaller 138bhp version, it has more than enough go for us. It has quite a few more toys than my zetec focus being the titanium so was nice to be able to hit the cruise button again. Hopefully it'll serve her well for many years to come. @Andy McDonnell, it's a :scorecard: from Len! :)

Pulls like a train mate and it's the 138bhp. There's a 163bhp if you want more but it's a really nice place to be sat. We looked at the freelander 2 and the X3 but for us they were way off the Kuga. The boot in the freelander 2 is pathetic to say the least.

Nice to hear mate. It's a step up from my Freelander one which whilst a top car couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Had it remapped and was still lagging way behind our old Galaxy 136bhp. I will probably look at the 163 model, more POWER (as Clarkson would say) is better :D

Edit: looked at X3's within our price range and frankly Stevie Wonder designed the earlier X3 and X5 models, full on double bagger and lazy design, in my view.

Don't be deterred if you see a lower break one that looks good to you, that's what happened with us. Wanted a 163 but the white and the extra kit swung it for us and there really is plenty of go.

At the end of the day mate it'll be my commute to work car that takes 1hr to do 12 miles and the family car so power is not really an issue but if i see one I'll go for it.

The boys approve of their new dog cart! :dog:

We recently decided to drop down to one car between us (plus my Z3) and after looking at various options got a 3 month old BMW X1 Xdrive 20i Auto , leather etc.
190bhp , and we are very happy with it , the Labrador has the boot to herself , we have rest of the car.

My wife had a 02 reg Freelander from new for 10 years

The experiences with different dealers was interesting:--

Nissan QQ my wife had previously , but Nissan now seem to have decided to ignore Mid and North Wales as they have NO dealers in those areas. Called in 2 other dealers , in both we were actually told what we needed was a 1.5 diesel [the one being pushed on tv adverts],asked about petrol , but told we did not want one. They pushed pcp , and said we could just pay it off after 3 months , until I pointed out the wording in the broacher they had given us.

Peugeot 3008 quite nice , but dealer never came back to us , despite a chasing phone call [dealer is 2 miles from home] Also seemed to be pushing the pcp route , [I did this on a prev BMW to get makers contribution , then paid it off 3 months later]

Ford we dismissed after a friends history with his Kuga.

Hyundai My son bought a Isuzu from our local Hyundai/Isuzu dealer , experience with them that poor that I will not deal with them again.

BMW X1 Had dealt with the dealer many times before , over 20 years. The local branch could not find a car with lumber supports for us to test, said none was available. Bit of hunting we found a used car in another branch of the same dealership,[quick hunt on BMW used car web site] told our local branch about it ,no response. We went to try it to see how we liked the seats , found the car was practically the spec we were looking to order, they offered us a good deal so we now have it.

Land Rover Considered the Evouge but decided against it. Dealership very pleasant to deal with.
