MOT

Top job

Our Gary's VW Crafter did the same yesterday which was a big relief. It had been in at my work for a clutch and DMF, plus a gearbox repair.
We couldn't have coped with a large (even a small) MOT bill.

Tony.

That’s a grand job,no one likes mot bills, my garage charges full price they can by law, but he is really fair and won’t fail it hoping to gain any work, and it dose not matter how many retest you have it’s free. I know that because of my old Rover 25 run about lol.

I would've tested it myself but we don't do class 7.:(

Tony.

Absolutely, Why not?

Just wondered it’s like judging your own car or something at competition you tend to be a bit biased. And don’t take that the wrong way I’m by no means saying you’d just pass it, I know it’s really ore than any one would dare do.

Many people think it's against the law or something to test your own vehicle, but no it's fine to do that. In fact you're likely to put yourself under more scrutiny in doing so.:) Having said that I guess there are still individuals out there who will do a test "over the phone", or internet etc. and risk whatever comes there way, I'm just not one of them.

That is basically what I was meaning.

I understand that, but there are corrupt people in all walks of life, and always will be.

I agree well nice chatting, but other half has just got home from work so I will go and make her a brew. Catch you again some where.

The vast majority of testers are honest people, honest people are human and can make mistakes. As long as there is no obviously corrupt practice going on then things are what they are. An instance, a few years ago I tested a Vectra and 2 or 3 months afterwards it came in with a burst brake pipe. I put it on a ramp to see exactly what had occurred and my (then) manager came down to the workshop about ready to lynch me as it was obviously something that I hadn't seen when I tested the car !!
Well, I pointed out that the pipe which had burst was the one across the rear of the car above the rear axle, which was covered by an alloy heat shield. You could not even see the pipe which had corroded away out of sight for all the cars life. You can't see it, you can't test it.:(

Just another reason why I've had enough of it to be honest.

Tony.
