Its that time again, once again we experience nerves on a par with an expectant father.
MOT tomorrow and after 3 years of previous problems with emissions have booked car in for 12:30 and will wait while its done, so tomorrow morning take the Z for a good run (any excuse) then nice and warm take it in for the MOT.
Fingers etc crossed for hopefully a good result.

Make sure you check all the simple things - lights , indicators, wipers, washers, horn, tyres,exhaust, seat belts, brakes, steering ie look for freeplay in steering when moving steering wheel slightly - all simple five minute stuff but nothing more frustrating than failing on a light bulb. Personally I would be jacking each wheel up checking the wheels spin freely with no bearing noise, rocking each wheel to check for wear in suspension components, and wheel bearings, then removing each wheel to check springs, brake pipes,shockers, etc as well as a check for corrosion. I waxoyl mine every year, a few weeks prior to the test, after giving it a thorough check over - examiners don't like it but it does prevent further corrosion.I always wash and clean the car, inside and out as well, which shows that you are looking after the car, and gives a good impression.

Simple stuff but better than going in blindly - if you have had emission problems give it a good hard run before presenting the car, and consider a new air filter.

I always present a nice clean car but I'm not sure if it will actually make a difference. A clear fail is a fail. Maybe on borderline subjective items could it make a difference I guess.
What's the MOT testers views? @t-tony ?

One thing it will be is clean
 
Just been out and checked the lights no N/S side lights front and rear and no N/S break light. Bulbs OK fuse number 33 (10amp) Phew!
 
Personally I don't particularly like a car which is like a skip inside but as long as child seats are correctly fastened in (not a testable item but it shows they care a bit about their kids) and there are not free floating items in there (ie trolley jacks etc.) it doesn't sway me one way or the other. What does annoy me is washers don't work, simply because they're empty, lights out bald tyres and other things which should be fixed on a day to day basis not just at M.O.T. time.;)

Sadly MoT's aren't what they used to be - you have to actually take the car along now :ymdevil:

Well another 12 months ticket, just scraping through on the emissions. Did fail on a number plate light (slapped hand never checked that)
Well all done and a pass certificate issued without charge for the repair, so a very happy bunny, thanks for all the positive messages.
 
That's worries deferred for 11.5 months.
I noticed a blown number plate bulb about two hours before an MoT. The holder snapped in half as I tried to remove it to replace the bulb. :bag:

Managed to scrounge some superglue and got it fixed about 15 minutes before leaving the appointment slot.
 
Looking at the test certificate looks like i've been doing a few more Z miles than i thought. :racecar:
