MOT time again.

Just been told front o/s balljoint worn, and recommends replacing front wishbone. Quoted £219, is this reasonable, or is the guy taking the p***?

Any thoughts

If it's only the outer ball joint (the steering joint) you don't need to change the complete arm. Even if he is changing the whole arm it sounds very expensive to me. Is that at BMW or local garage?

Tony.

Wishbones are around £100 ish a side, plus ball joint plus couple of hours labour charge, so that seems about right

Look on the Internet and phone around the local garages to get the best price :p

Someone some where is making a lot of money.

Tony.

Delphi arms on eBay are £41 each complete with BOTH ball joints. P&P is expensive but we all live close enough to an outlet to collect them? Easy to fit too.

That's a good price for the bits Tony, but a garage isn't going to charge you that price for the them I wouldn't think?

No they certainly wouldn't Garry, to be fair I do look at things from a different point of view to retail. But going back to the OP, £219 to replace just one in my opinion is way too much.:)

Not quite so bad, as it included the supporting bush and the mot test itself. Phoned around a few others, and all except main dealer within the ball park. Thanks for info guys
