mot fail

I've got a spare SRS steering wheel which has a working horn, it's from the e36 that we had.

The horn on our e36 stopped working about 12 years ago and what was done is something was soldered back together, I was too young to remember any of this so I can't tell you what was causing the issue. Since the car is scrapped i took the wheel, air bag and slip ring out.

If you want the wheel with the airbag - wheel isn't in great condition but it works I can get it over to you for £15 inc p&p.

i may need it, depends on the comparability of the clock spring. first i need to establish where the fault lies

quick update, I cheated - I put my phone on voice record and placed it next to the relay, yes it clicks as it should, so I swiped a horn from a crashed van from work, tomorrow I will wire it in. @Lee your diagnostic looks correct:thumbsup:
very relieved its not the clock spring phewww

next issue is the thermostat, oddly after running the car for 5 min, the one pipe going to the thermostat is quite warm while the other pipe is stone cold so it seems the thermostat might actually be ok, will see if it has a little trapped wind like me.

nothing happening as of yet, been to busy. the horn can be fixed easily, the windscreen im awaiting a date on, and the emissions is something i will have to have a go at, the thermostat is stuck open which is why it fails on the second part of the test (higher rpm) as the revs rise the engine cools down which in turn alters the fuel/air mixture ( or rather the ECU adjusts it for cold running)
