Dropped the car off this morning for it's MOT confident I'd be collecting it this afternoon with a non-advisory certificate for another 12 months.

Unfortunately I got a call from the mechanic earlier saying it had failed on emissions and needs a new catalytic converter - he reckons the one fitted looks relatively new but is aftermarket and they aren’t worth s##t :bashhead:

Hopefully I'll get it back before the weekend

Picked the car up this afternoon with a full, non-advisory 12 month ticket

I found the invoice for the previous catalytic converter from October 2021 so it had only covered 2,800 miles.

My mechanic said it wasn't a type approved one which is what he's now fitted.

Would be interested in the results that support the pass for comparison?

Thought exactly the same after I took that photo - I didn't get that just the pass certificate :bashhead:

I would go back and ask for a copy. The machine has to store all results and can print a copy on demand. I may a suspicious person, but I wonder if you've had your leg lifted Garrie?

Tony.

I've been taking my cars to him for over 10 years so I'm comfortable there was no leg lifting on this occasion

I hope you're right. So why not give you a copy of the Emission test results if there's nothing shady going on? He was happy enough to give you the fail Certificate wasn't he? Also worth noting that he didn't carry out the test procedure correctly either after the initial (Bet Test) failure.

Tony.
