Always having had a bit of a big mouth when it comes to modding....... :-^
I am now thinking about having my hardtop wrapped mat black, after seeing the Captains car.
Just had a quote for Euro 495.00 (For a bit more than that, I could have bought Goohah's hardtop.... :-o )

The thinking behind this is that it is reversible.

Any thoughts welcome.

Blimey, that sounds a lot for just the hardtop.... :-?

That's ridiculously expensive for just the hardtop hardtop.. ( see what I did there! ) :D

A company near me will wrap a whole Z3 for £1000.

I personally think a gloss black would look better..
What's on your window screen surround?

i like it as it is

Oh Liam, you jester you.......... :o) ( :D ) Might go for carbon fiber............ :-? The wind screen surround is black.

Yes Gaz, this place is in Amsterdam, the other recommended company is in Belgium. Remember the mat black wrapped Z4?

Thank you swamper but this idea is basically your fault, with all your modding and what not........ B-)

500 euro does sound alot but not massively. Works out to £400ish which considering the £100 of vinyl leaves £300 in labour, typically 3-4 hours depending on the shapes (a good company will wash, clay, decontaminate, remove any oxidation or other imperfections before they even mock up a vinyl template)

The problem is that roofs and bonnets need 2 people to properly lay the vinyl so its double the cost. A single person can easily do a door because they can hang the vinyl and work down. For just a roof i'd say £250-£300 is pretty normal if you go to a good company that will do the prep work and get decent vinyl.

Hi Hardtop,

Would it not be cheaper to have it sprayed, 450 euro's sounds very expensive for a wrap. I paid the equivalent of 150 euro's to have mine sprayed, which at the end of the day is also reversible.

Try a plastisol coating?

I know a bloke that does that and he has a big enough tank, but he said that it would look crap on the rear window....... ;)
I know a bloke who does copper coating as well....... :-?

Thanks Ian, that is a lot cheaper than the German product. I will send them an e.mail to gain more info...... :-bd
