After a recent MoT my 1999 2.8 would not idle although recovered mostly after about 10 miles. Since then it has poor pick up from low revs and will cut out on idle from time to time. I have just changed the plugs (60k) all looked good but no improvement. Any ideas or suggestions please.

Cam sensor. I had the same symptons on mine. Changed crank and cam sensors and all is well.
Mine was stalling on tickover and pull off sometimes and had a lack of power. Get it on a code reader, it should flag it up. If you don't have one a member local may be able to help you.

Grumps is probably right but as he says get the codes read - should always be first step.

As above code readers will point you in the right direction. By the sound it is probably cam sensor but there are 2. And also a leak in the air inlet system rubber hoses.

Good calls for getting the codes read, if camshaft or crank sensor faults show up replace with OEM parts don't waste cash on pattern parts or you will end up paying twice.

Didn't realise the 2.8 has two cam sensors, my twin cam M44 only has one.

Doesn't the M44 have an inlet and exhaust cam sensor?

The six pot engines have a crank sensor and one for both camshafts Colin. I was just curious. The M44 is a 16 Valve Twin cam isn't it?

So don't they have a position sensor for each camshaft ?

Tony.
