Thanks Gaz I didn't want to think you had got one for no reason. If you were nearer I would have gladly done the job for you too.
No honestly, it's a useful tool to in my tool case anyway.

I've not had so much aggro from a set of discs & pads before. I think Rosie hasn't had much attention from the previous owner, which I kind of suspected when I bought her.

Hi ho, hi ho it's back to B&Q we go.... Just blunted the titanium HSS drill bit trying to drill out the screw. Seriously, WTF do I need to do to get this bloody disc off?

This was what I bought...

IF you have a set of drill bits Gaz, try starting with a small ( 3mm) first to break through the harder outer shell but be very carefully not to break it off in the screw. Gradually work up to bigger sizes. HTH.

The key is to use a very slow speed so that you cut into the metal and just polish it

I would on larger sizes but on small ones (HSS) high speed steel?

Yes, the bolts are 8.8 grade so high tensile, use a slow cutting speed, trust me ;)

And a squirt of oil helps keep the bit cool. Slow, even pressure, it's not like sex where you go faster and faster as you get to the end.JIM

If there was a Zorg cruse any time soon and I had been able to attend, me and Gaz would both be hitching lifts.

Update time: Rosie passed her MOT with one advisory, which is that the off side headlight adjuster is broken. They managed to realign the headlight with some pliers so she passed!

Finishing off the brakes was a little more involved because the front calipers started binding after replacement.

Having run out of time I dropped the car off a day early and got them to sort the front calipers before the MOT. The rears were replaced easily without any issues. Didn't need to change the hand brake shoes, they were just badly adjusted and full of debris.

I have a spare set of rear hand brake shoes now if anyone needs them :)
