They have done an engine change before on her mums partners old Saab and he knows them quite well so apparently they are genuine. Why I can't remember I think it was to do with a turbo and even then they suggested a engine replacement but I think not long after he sold the car. He is probably trying to do us a favour as they know it will be expensive and trying to save money, something I still don't trust. It's not like throwing a hundred quid at it.
That's why I don't think it needs a replacement engine, she told them the wrong info by saying its noisy and not saying it judders. Before I got chance to speak to them to tell them exactly what was wrong they had made up their mind. I could be wrong but everything points to a coil pack or similar. It started juddering end of last year, I changed the spark plugs and it drove like a dream for several months and then came back. If you drive steady it is fine, put your foot down it judders up until it picks up a bit of speed. I could be completely wrong and it does need a new engine but it's going to be expensive if its not necessary, will wait to see how much they quote.
