I only know him from Detailing World where we were both supporters.
Small world, he has two guys who do his wrapping. My old Z3M was wrapped by them.
I'v been out the game for a short while now and only do what I fancy to be honest. I know he used to do well a couple of years ago but not heard of him for a while. He has obviously moved along with the game but for me Detailing was always cleaning cars. Would hate to wrap a car in dull plastic. I love shiney paint. But each to their own and all that.
Classics are my thing and always have been, New cars just do nothing for me paint wise of style wise.
That's why the Z3 appeals a lot, The lines are old and out of touch now but hold something for me.

Yeah I did, I also got him to remove it and respray half the car.
The mileage is recorded in two places in the Z3. The instrument cluster and I think the other is the EWS. If the two registers are out by more than a value (think it's 85 km), the tamper dot comes up next to the mileage on the speedo. There is a process that can be done to correct this and remove the tamper dot, but it takes the highest mileage and overwrites the lowest mileage. Your BMW dealer can do this for you.
If you change the instrument cluster you will get the same tamper dot problem, but you have another option. The module that stores the mileage in the instrument cluster can be changed into the new cluster. Do a web search to see how to do it. You do need to have your original instrument cluster on hand.

Thanks Muzz but my problem lay in the coding plug not the actual cluster so the 47k on my car magically ramped up to 127k as soon as I fitted the second hand coding plug.
Robbie doesn't do mileage correction but a chum of his does. His name is Danny. He said that he cannot do it while I wait and it would be c.£80 for a superficial change or £250-£300 for a full rewrite that cannot be detected. I'm in touch with a chap more locally now and hope he'll do it for a reasonable charge.

This is a very interesting thread with plenty of logic applied going both directions. In Canada it is illegal to tamper with mileage except in the case of replacement needed due to malfunction or accident and there are a pile of forms which must accompany the car in case of sale to a new owner. This eliminates the need to adjust/correct the odometer with an engine change. JIM

Resurrecting an old thread...
My cluster malfunctioned and broke after (I think) I put 24V through it after forgetting to disconnect the battery charger before starting the car. Some smoke and blown capacitors later, I found that the cluster had gone. Bought a used replacement cluster with 10k more miles on it. All plugged in but obviously mileage is incorrect for the car and tamper dot is present. Tried taking it to a local mileage correction guy, but after changing out the hardwired EEPROM from the old cluster and swapping over the coding plug, no joy. Feels like a legitimate use of mileage correction in this instance!
Anyone know of any good companies in the South Wales/Bristol area that is a dab hand at this?

Battery charger is in parallel to the battery so wouldn't put 24v through anything. It would need to be in series to get 24v. You didn't disconnect the battery and connect it, in series, with the charger did you?

I definitely connected the charger's terminals to the car positive terminal (driver's side under bonnet behind engine) and the ground terminal (terminal stud on driver's side strut tower under bonnet). And also the battery was connected to the car at the time.
So that would only give 12V. If your dash caught fire then there's some other problem
