This is the 1968 MGB prototype that just didn't make it, rather nice I would suggest? .......and to think the car that did get produced instead was the TR7 . Only trouble was BL was going to use the Maxi engine and gearbox soooo maybe all ended well

It must have been a really bad handling car because see if you look closely you can see its kiddie car stabilizer wheels

Mid-engined? Considering what they did to the MGB with the hideous front bumper I can't see that front end making it into production.

Reminds me a lot of the Saab Sonnett a brilliant car but hardly ever seen, it was built from the late 60s

From the side it looks like a Lancia Stratos but with smaller wheels. It looks too stylish for a BL production

Just imagine how that would have turned out with BMC/BL's lack of development and general shoddiness of the time. Think of the fun to be had working on the mid-mounted Maxi engine and transmission.....
