As you can see in the pic below... the rust around that centering piece is where it sticks most.... Try a wire brush or a scraper to remove the contamination around there and a few good smacks with the hammer...

@Southernboy thanks for the tips. Didn't even think about using wd40 on that but to ease up some rust. Will be sure to give it a go

When the Mrs turned up with a terrible grinding sound it was just a stone stuck between the Disc and that steel shroud at the back. Bent that shroud back by hand and out dropped the stone. Just a thought.

Ok so at it again and iv pretty much tried everything. Pretty close to taking the hammer to the back of the disk. Still no joy getting it off. It's solid on but freely rotates making that nasty scraping sound

The "laser" is always the final solution.

Dont forget the copper grease on that joint when you put it back together.

Watching a garage mech the other day and they put one wheel bolt back in loosely and hit the front face of the disc with a BIG hammer and came off. The bolt was just to stop the disc flying off and hitting you/anything. The discs were probably ruined after but they were worn out.

Well don't come to me with a Volvo XC 90 with parking brake issues. What a piece of CARP. They were one of the first to use this idea and now they have totally f***ed it up. Why can't they leave things alone?

Tony.

Yeah, knew you would in the end Derek. Hope you can sort out the fault more easily now. If you have questions just ask.
