Merseyside motorist caught doing 165mph banned

A man caught driving at speeds of up to 165mph (266km/h) on the M57 motorway on Merseyside has been banned.

Shiad Mahmoon, 23, was in an Audi when he was followed by a police helicopter at 05:00 BST in June 2011.

Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard he was eventually pulled over by officers on the M62 motorway.

Mahmoon, from Oldham, was given a three-year driving ban and told he would have to retake his test at the end of his ban period.
